At Mainline, we understand that operator safety is critical for the use of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs).
With the increased use of MEWPs in construction, maintenance and other applications where trapping risks are present has led to accidents in which people on the platform have been trapped between the platform and objects in the work area.
Since 2003, eight people have been killed and many injured when trapped or operating a MEWP.
Accidents can or course be avoided if good practice is encouraged and followed. All persons involved in the management and operation of MEWPs need to understand how to minimise the risks of someone being trapped in the basket and the importance of having effective rescue procedures should such an entrapment occur.
Alongside our continual commitment to operator health and safety we are currently in the process of retro-fitting anti-entrapment systems across our vast fleet of boom lifts ranging from Genie, JLG through to Nifty Lift machines.
